South African rapper Shebeshxt is currently in mourning following the tragic death of his nine-year-old daughter in a car accident. The incident occurred as he was travelling with three passengers to perform at the African National Congress (ANC) Siyanqoba Rally celebration concert in the northern Limpopo province.
In addition to the heartbreaking loss of his daughter, Shebeshxt, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, also suffered a serious injury in the crash, resulting in the amputation of his foot. Expressing his grief on social media, the rapper shared, “My heart is so so broken… I’m trying to adjust to the accident that left me in trauma and tears. Losing my foot was enough, not to lose my daughter.”
Messages of condolences and prayers have been pouring in from fans and the music community. The Limpopo Artists Movement (LAM) released a statement offering support and solidarity to Shebeshxt and his family during this difficult time.
Footage of the crash has been circulating online, showing Shebeshxt receiving medical attention at the scene. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by authorities in Limpopo.
This unfortunate incident marks Shebeshxt’s second car accident this year, with the first occurring in January where he survived unharmed but his vehicle was severely damaged. Despite facing hardships, Shebeshxt’s popularity has been on the rise in South Africa’s music industry, particularly with his hit song “Ke Di Shxt Malume” gaining traction on platforms like TikTok.
However, the rapper has faced controversy in the past, with a video surfacing earlier this year showing him brandishing a gun during a performance.
