Nigerian music sensation Joeboy recently shared his thoughts on the impact of social media on the music industry, noting how it has revolutionized the way artists and fans connect.

In an interview on 3FM, Joeboy highlighted the significant role platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok play in reshaping music creation, sharing, and consumption. He emphasized how social media has provided artists with a direct line to their audience, allowing them to bypass traditional gatekeepers and showcase their talent on a global scale.

“Social media has completely changed the game for myself and many artists. It has allowed us to reach a global audience without relying solely on mainstream media or record labels. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok have become essential tools for promoting our music and engaging with fans instantly,” Joeboy shared.

He also touched on the downside of social media, pointing out how it can sometimes perpetuate a false narrative or image that people may mistake for reality.

Joeboy gave an example, stating, “I can take a picture in front of a jet right now, I won’t say a word, and the next thing bloggers will say Joeboy has bought a jet, and people who do not know me privately will believe it, and if do not see anything they will take it as fact.”

Joeboy recognizes the power of social media in breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for artists to thrive in the music industry.
