Renowned Jamaican-American singer Sean Kingston has found himself embroiled in yet another legal battle, this time in Broward County, Florida. The artist, born Kisean Paul Anderson, was recently arrested on 10 charges following his detainment in California for fraud and theft.

The arrest comes on the heels of a SWAT team raiding Kingston’s South Florida mansion and apprehending his mother, Janice Turner, who is also implicated in the case. Turner is facing accusations of defrauding multiple businesses, including a luxury car dealership and a jeweller, with charges totaling $480,000.

In addition to grand theft and fraud charges, Kingston is also facing multiple counts of identity fraud, issuing faulty checks, and a probation violation. His mother, on the other hand, is facing eight counts but has reportedly posted bail and is no longer in police custody.

Currently held without bail in a San Bernardino county jail, Kingston is scheduled for an extradition hearing on Tuesday to be sent back to Florida. His attorney, Robert Rosenblatt, maintains that the case is a civil matter rather than a criminal one and looks forward to disputing the charges in court.

Despite his legal troubles, Kingston is best known for his chart-topping hits such as “Beautiful Girls” in 2007 and his collaboration with Justin Bieber on “Eenie Meenie.” It has been over a decade since Kingston released music under a major label, and his current legal predicament adds another layer of complexity to his already tumultuous career.
