Sean “Diddy” Combs, the well-known hip-hop mogul, has recently been arrested in New York City on unspecified federal charges, as reported by federal authorities to CBS.
The arrest came after raids on two of his properties in Los Angeles and Miami in March, part of an ongoing investigation into sex trafficking.
Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, expressed disappointment at the arrest, stating that his client was an innocent man.
The musician has faced a series of allegations, including sexual assault and abuse, with his ex-partner Cassie Ventura being one of the accusers. Combs has consistently denied all claims made against him.
Multiple law enforcement sources revealed that the arrest was related to an investigation by US Homeland Security officials.
Damian Williams, the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Monday night. The indictment is set to be unsealed on Tuesday morning, providing more details on the charges.
Combs is also facing civil lawsuits, including accusations of raping an underage girl and attempting to coerce a producer into engaging in sexual activities.
Despite the legal challenges, his attorney reiterated Combs’ intention to clear his name in court. The attorney described Combs as a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and philanthropist.
The rapper’s legal troubles began in November 2023 when Ventura filed her lawsuit, followed by two other women alleging abuse and assault.
Additional lawsuits surfaced, including one where a woman claimed to have been sex trafficked by Combs and two others when she was 17 years old. Combs denied these allegations as well.
With the expiration of the New York Adult Survivors Act approaching, allowing individuals to file claims of sexual abuse even after the statute of limitations had passed, several lawsuits were filed against Combs.
In May, CCTV footage showing Combs allegedly attacking Ventura circulated, aligning with her civil suit.
