Nigerian music icon Wizkid, whose real name is Ayodeji Balogun, recently opened up about his career in an exclusive interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra.

Despite his numerous achievements and massive success in the music industry, Wizkid believes that he is just at the beginning of his musical journey.

The talented artist, often referred to as one of Africa’s most decorated musicians, has garnered a massive following and is one of the most streamed artists in Sub-Saharan Africa.

With a Grammy award under his belt for his contribution to Beyonce’s “Lion King” album, Wizkid’s hit track “Essence” featuring Tems is also in the running for a Grammy.

In December, Wizkid surprised fans with the release of his latest project, the “Soundman Vol. 2” EP, which features collaborations with industry heavyweights like Wande Coal and Zlatan Ibile. This release came as a shock to many, as Wizkid had hinted at taking a five-year break from music just a month before.

During his break, Wizkid had mentioned considering ventures in football or golf, but with the unveiling of his new EP, it seems like fans can expect more music from the Afrobeats star sooner than anticipated.
