K-Pop star Karina has confirmed that she is single again after a public split with actor Lee Jae-wook. The couple had gone public with their relationship in February, which sparked backlash from fans accusing Karina of betrayal.
Lee’s agency, C-JeS Studio, confirmed the breakup and stated that he wants to focus on his filming projects. Despite the split, the agency mentioned that they would continue to support each other as colleagues.
Following the backlash and criticism, Karina issued a heartfelt apology on Instagram, promising to show a more mature and hardworking side to her fans in the future. Some fans even went as far as driving a protest truck to her management agency, questioning if the love from her fans was not enough.
This incident sheds light on the intense scrutiny that K-Pop stars face from their fans, who increasingly try to dictate their idols’ private lives. Notably, this is not an isolated incident in the South Korean entertainment industry.
Recently, actors Han So-hee and Ryu Jun-yeol also announced their separation after facing backlash from fans for being in a “transit relationship”. Han took to Instagram to address the allegations, emphasizing the importance of not letting personal life interfere with their acting careers.
