According to Brian, the song was a way to remember the positive aspects of Aaron and his life. Aaron’s friend Morgan Matthews, who also worked on the song, confessed to the difficulty in listening to the track as he is still dealing with the loss.
Morgan expressed his emotional struggle with the song, stating that he couldn’t record it due to the overwhelming emotions it brought up.
Aaron co-wrote the song with Brian and shared special memories with him, reminding Brian of the Aaron he knew. The song serves as a positive tribute to the late singer.
Aaron tragically passed away due to drowning in his bathtub after consuming alprazolam and inhaling compressed difluoroethane, as confirmed by an autopsy report released in April. The report also highlighted that Aaron became incapacitated and slipped underneath the water, resulting in his tragic death.
Despite the autopsy results, Aaron’s fiancée Melanie Martin expressed her disbelief in the cause of death, questioning the details provided. Melanie emphasized that Aaron was more than his issues and hoped people would focus on his positive contributions to the world.
The Carter family faced another heartbreaking loss in December 2023, with the accidental drug overdose of Aaron’s sister, Bobbie Jean. Jane Carter, their mother, expressed shock and grief over the sudden death of her daughter, as revealed by legal documents.
