Iconic television personality Oprah Winfrey was recently hospitalized due to a stomach virus, as confirmed by her close friend Gayle King. Fans were left worried when Oprah failed to make her scheduled appearance on CBS mornings.

Oprah Winfrey, born in January 1954, is a renowned producer, talk show host, actress, and philanthropist. Despite being born into poverty in Mississippi to a teenage single mother, Oprah rose to fame through her wildly popular show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, which ran for 25 seasons. She became the first black woman billionaire in 2003, amassing a media empire that includes a lifestyle magazine brand and her own TV network.

The Television Academy Hall of Fame inductee has also ventured into film, starring in hit movies such as The Color Purple, The Butler, and A Wrinkle in Time. Oprah has co-authored five books and received numerous accolades for her contributions to entertainment.

Although the TV star is now worth an estimated $3.5 billion, she recently faced health issues related to weight loss medication. Oprah revealed that she had lost around 20kg using medication similar to Ozempic. Despite controversies surrounding the trend, the weight loss drug was approved by the US FDA to treat Type 2 diabetes.

Gayle King shared the news of Oprah’s illness on air, explaining that the 70-year-old was hospitalized due to severe dehydration caused by a stomach flu. While the TV star is now recovering, Gayle emphasized the importance of Oprah taking the time to rest.
