Tampa rapper Julio Foolio’s birthday celebrations took a tragic turn as the rising star was shot and killed during his 26th birthday party in Tampa.
The independent artist, with nearly one million monthly listeners on Spotify, was confirmed dead by his attorney early Sunday morning.
Born Charles Jones on June 21, 1998, Julio Foolio was a prominent figure in the rap world. Growing up in and around Jacksonville, Florida, Foolio had amassed a large social media following with one million followers on Instagram, 647,000 subscribers on YouTube, 302,000 followers on Facebook, 55,000 followers on TikTok, and 63,000 followers on Twitter.
Known for his quick-hitting beats and melodic style, Foolio began his rap career in 2016 and quickly rose to fame. His breakout mixtape, “6Toven,” a collaboration with producer Zaytoven, launched him into the spotlight. Some of his most famous songs include “Crooks,” “Reach the Top,” “When I See You,” and “Beatbox Remix.”
Despite surviving two previous shootings in his life, Foolio tragically met his demise during his birthday celebrations at a hotel in Tampa. Police confirmed that three people were injured in the shooting, with Foolio being the only fatality.
The celebration quickly turned into a tragedy, with the rapper’s attorney confirming his death on social media. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation, with police looking into the events that led to the fatal incident.
Foolio’s alleged girlfriend, Mani B, expressed her grief on social media, blaming those responsible for taking her boyfriend away.
