Born Calvin LeBrun on August 17, 1966, in New York City, DJ Mister Cee was raised in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant. It was during his high school years that he crossed paths with rapper Big Daddy Kane, who inspired him to pursue a career in the music industry.

Embarking on his journey, DJ Mister Cee worked as a messenger for various companies to support himself while making music. In 1988, he collaborated with Big Daddy Kane on Kane’s debut album, “Long Live the Kane,” which is still considered one of hip-hop’s most influential albums.

Throughout his career, DJ Mister Cee was a member of two significant groups – The Flip Squad and the Juice Crew – both of which contributed to shaping the hip-hop landscape. Additionally, he made a name for himself as a radio personality on New York’s Radio 103.9 station, where he shared his passion for hip-hop with listeners.

As a talented record producer, DJ Mister Cee worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, including The Notorious B.I.G. His collaboration with Biggie on the critically acclaimed album “Ready to Die” solidified his reputation as a producer.
