Who was Christopher Tapp?

Christopher Tapp was a victim of a wrongful conviction that cost him two decades of his life. After his release in 2019, he sued the city of Idaho Falls and the Idaho Falls Police Department and was eventually awarded $11.7 million in a settlement in 2022.

What happened between Christopher Tapp and Angie Dodge?

Angie Dodge was raped and murdered on June 13, 1996, in her apartment in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Christopher Tapp, who was erroneously linked to the crimes, was eventually exonerated in 2019.

It was discovered that DNA evidence collected from the crime scene did not match Tapp’s DNA, raising doubts about his guilt. A genealogist helped create a new DNA profile for the actual killer, leading to the arrest and confession of Brian Leigh Dripps Sr. in 2021.

Dripps pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and rape, admitting his role in the heinous crime. He was sentenced to life in prison for the brutal acts he committed against Angie Dodge.

When did Christopher Tapp die?

Christopher Tapp sadly passed away on November 5, 2023, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of 47. His death came shortly after the tragic loss of his wife, Stacey Tapp, in a car accident.

Tapp’s wrongful conviction and subsequent exoneration shed light on the flaws in the justice system and the importance of seeking truth and justice in all cases.
