Mexican singer Peso Pluma made history in 2023 not only as Spotify’s most-streamed artist in Mexico but also as the fifth most-streamed artist around the world.
2023 has been a breakout year for Peso Pluma, who skyrocketed to fame for his unique musical style – and landed one of Argentina’s biggest names in music as a girlfriend.
Nicole Denis Cucco, known professionally as Nicki Nicole, is an Argentine singer-songwriter. She was born in Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina on August 25, 2000. In 2019, she launched her music career, releasing her first song, Wapo Traketero.
She later collaborated with Argentine producer Bizarrap, who is known for producing tracks called “Music Sessions,” featuring vocals by other artists. Their collaboration peaked at number three on the Billboard Argentina Hot 100, helping catapult both of them to the mainstream.
On November 8, 2019, Nicki Nicole released her first album, Recuerdos. In August 2020, her song Mamichula made her the first Argentine woman to top the Argentina Hot 100 chart. On October 28, 2021, she became the first Argentine artist to perform on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, promoting her second album, Parte de Mí, “Part of Me.”
On May 18, 2023, Nicki Nicole released her third studio album, Alma. She has been nominated for – and won – numerous awards and accolades for her music. She was most recently nominated for two Latin Grammy Awards, including Best Urban Music Album for her 2023 album, Alma, and Best Rap/Hip-Hop Song for DISPARA ***. As of December 2023, Nicki Nicole has over 22 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Peso Pluma and Nicki Nicole were first spotted together at Disneyland in July 2023, and again at a soccer match that September. Pluma first admitted he had a girlfriend during an interview with Amelia Dimoldenberg at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on September 14, 2023. Just weeks later, the two made their official red carpet debut at the 24th Annual Latin Grammy Awards on November 16, 2023, in Seville, Spain.
In early February 2024, fans of the couple began speculating that the pair may have broken up. The rumors began circulating when Nicki Nicole dropped what fans viewed as hints on social media.
Fans spotted that Nicki deleted all pictures of her and Peso on social media. She also shared a cryptic quote on her Instagram story.
She said, “Respect is a necessary part of love. What is loved, is respected.” “What is respected, is cared for. When you are not cared for and there is no respect, I don’t stay there. I leave.” “It is with great sorrow that I found out the same way you did, thank you for the love you are sending me.” Neither party has outwardly confirmed the split.
