Chef José Andrés is a renowned figure in the food industry with a successful career that has earned him a loyal fan base. But beyond his culinary expertise, people are curious about his personal life, particularly his wife and family.

José Andrés’ wife is Patricia Fernandez de la Cruz, a native of Spain. Patricia, also known as Tichi, hails from Cádiz in the southwest of Spain.

In an interview with Bethesda Magazine, José described Patricia as the “organized and sensible person in my family.” He also referred to her as “caring, loving and the best friend a nutjob like me can have” in his book, We Fed an Island: The True Story of Rebuilding Puerto Rico, One Meal at a Time.

Patricia shared that she initially came to Washington, DC to study English while her uncle worked for the Spanish Embassy. However, her planned six-month stay turned into a longer commitment as she pursued her education and career. It was during this time that she met José, and the two eventually relocated to Bethesda, Maryland.

In a heartwarming Instagram post from December 9, 2023, José celebrated the tenth anniversary of him and Patricia becoming American citizens. He expressed gratitude for having a home in Spain and a place where they belong in the United States.

The couple first crossed paths at a restaurant called Café Atlantico in Washington, D.C. Their meeting led to a blossoming romance, and after a year and a half of dating, José and Patricia tied the knot in September 1995. They had both a civil ceremony in Bethesda and a religious wedding in Spain.

José and Patricia are parents to three daughters, Carlota, Ines, and Lucia, who attended The Woods Academy in Bethesda. The family lives in a contemporary home with a warm and inviting interior, complete with a kitchen filled with fresh produce and beehives in the front yard.

José has credited his wife for her support in his humanitarian efforts, emphasizing the importance of having a strong family network. Together, they have built a life that is not only centered around food but also around love, family, and making a positive impact in the world.
