NBA superstar Michael Porter Jr has been making headlines recently, not just for his skills on the basketball court, but for the family issues that have been surrounding him.
The Denver Nuggets forward comes from a large family, with a total of four brothers and three sisters.
Porter’s brother Jontay has recently been in the news after being handed a lifetime ban from the NBA. He was found guilty of violating the league’s strict gambling rules, including disclosing confidential information to sports bettors and betting on NBA games. This has resulted in a severe punishment from the NBA commissioner Adam Silver.
Another one of Porter’s brothers, Colban, has been sentenced to six years in prison for his involvement in a fatal DUI crash. The tragic incident took the life of Katharina Rothman and seriously injured her passenger. Colban admitted to getting behind the wheel after drinking and took full responsibility for his actions.
Despite these challenges, the Porter family remains close-knit and supportive of one another. Two of Michael’s other brothers, Jevon and Izaak, are also following in his footsteps and pursuing basketball careers. Jevon is currently a top prospect playing for Loyalo Marymount University, while Izaak is a budding sensation playing college basketball for Father Tolton.
On the sister front, Michael has three sisters – Bri, Cierra, and Jayda – who are also heavily involved in basketball. Bri and Cierra both played for the University of Missouri college basketball team, with Cierra earning SEC Sixth Woman of the Year honors in 2019. Jayda, the youngest of the siblings, is making a name for herself as a standout player at Rock Bridge High School.
