Kamala Harris, the first female vice president of the United States, has a close relationship with her husband Douglas Emhoff’s two children, Cole and Ella.
Although Harris and Emhoff do not have children together, the couple met in 2014 and got married in a Santa Barbara courthouse in August of the same year when she was California’s Attorney General.
Douglas Emhoff, a California attorney and partner at the firm DLA Piper, has two adult children from his previous marriage to Kerstin Emhoff.
Cole, a psychology graduate from Colorado College, now works for production company Plan B Entertainment.
He was named after jazz legend John Coltrane and has previously worked for William Morris Endeavor, a talent agency.
Ella, on the other hand, is named after musical great Ella Fitzgerald. She graduated from Parsons School of Design in 2021 and is already a successful knitwear designer based in Brooklyn.
Ella has modeled for major fashion brands like Miu Miu and Proenza and has even walked the Met Gala red carpet alongside actress Julia Garner.
Despite not having children of her own, Kamala Harris has embraced her role as a stepmother to Cole and Ella, showcasing a strong bond with her husband’s children throughout their marriage of six years.
