Morgan Geyser, the young girl who made headlines for a horrific stabbing incident in 2014, was just 12 years old when she committed the act of violence.
Living in Waukesha, Wisconsin at the time, Geyser, along with her friend Anissa Weier, lured another friend into the woods and proceeded to stab her 19 times. The victim, also 12 years old, miraculously survived the attack.
The motive behind the brutal crime was later revealed to be an attempt to appease the fictional character Slender Man.
Following the incident, Geyser was diagnosed with schizophrenia and pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree intentional homicide. She was sentenced to 40 years in a mental health institution at the Winnebago Mental Health Institute.
Now 21 years old, Geyser recently filed for a conditional release from the institution in March 2024. This was her third attempt at seeking freedom in the past three years.
However, on April 11, 2024, a judge denied her release after psychologist Deborah Collins advised against it. Collins cited Geyser’s diagnoses of unspecified schizophrenia, post-traumatic stress, and social anxiety disorder as reasons for her recommendation against Geyser’s release.
