The head of Ukraine’s formidable GUR military intelligence service, Kyrylo Budanov, has suggested that Alexei Navalny may have died from natural causes, casting doubt on the theories that the Russian opposition leader was murdered.

Navalny, who was known for his anti-corruption activism, was found dead in a Russian gulag at the age of 47, leading to speculation that he was assassinated on the orders of President Putin.

However, Budanov stated that Navalny’s cause of death seems to have been confirmed as a blood clot, suggesting it was a natural occurrence rather than foul play.

Despite the initial reluctance of prison authorities to release Navalny’s body, his widow Yulia and mother Lyudmila have been vocal in demanding answers and accusing Putin of mistreating their loved one in life and death.

Navalny’s mother was even threatened to have her son’s body kept in the prison if she didn’t agree to a secret burial, which caused outrage among the family and supporters.

The controversial circumstances surrounding Navalny’s death have raised suspicions of foul play, with Navalny’s team alleging that Russian officials are trying to cover up the true cause of his demise.
