In June 2021, the shocking and tragic murder of Scott Callahan took place, allegedly at the hands of his own son, Jack Callahan.

The 19-year-old was accused of killing his father in a chilling incident that involved what he claimed to be an exorcism gone wrong.

On the fateful night of June 28, 2021, Jack reportedly informed the police that his father, Scott, had been “possessed” by a demon named “Dirty Dan.”

In an attempt to rid Scott of this supposed demon, Jack believed that a baptism-style exorcism was necessary. He took Scott to Island Creek Pond near their home in Duxbury, where a tragic altercation unfolded.

According to reports, Jack held his father underwater multiple times during the exorcism attempt. He claimed that he was baptizing Scott and that he continued to dunk his father’s head into the water until he stopped struggling. The incident culminated in Scott’s tragic death, with his body being found at the bottom of the pond.

Scott Callahan, a 57-year-old bank executive and father of three, was pronounced dead at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth in the early hours of the morning. The shocking details of his death sent shockwaves through the community and left many questioning the circumstances surrounding his tragic demise.
