Renowned Austrian-American actor and former governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger was involved in a serious car accident on January 21, 2022.
The accident occurred around 8:30 pm ET when Schwarzenegger’s SUV collided with- and reportedly rolled over- a red Prius, leaving one person badly injured. Witnesses described the scene as resembling a movie stunt, with the injured driver seen bleeding heavily from her head and rushed to the hospital by ambulance.
The incident took place on Sunset Blvd, where the Prius driver was attempting a U-turn while Schwarzenegger was about a mile away from his home. Among those at the scene was actor, fitness personality, and Schwarzenegger’s close friend, Jake Steinfeld.
Although it is unclear if Steinfeld was in the car with Schwarzenegger, the two have a longstanding friendship dating back to Schwarzenegger’s time in office as governor of California.
Schwarzenegger, a member of the Republican Party, entered the world of politics in 2003 when he replaced Democratic governor Gray Davis during a recall election. He has been an advocate for initiatives to address global warming, signing the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 and negotiating carbon emissions trading markets with England during his time in office.
Since leaving office in 2011, Schwarzenegger has returned to acting, starring in sequels to The Terminator and teaming up with longtime collaborator Sylvester Stallone for the upcoming film TMZ Presents: Arnold and Sly: Rivals, Friends, Icons, set to premiere on Fox on April 23, 2024.
Despite the recent accident, fans are relieved to hear that Schwarzenegger is safe and recovering, and look forward to his future projects on the big screen.
