The reason behind Fantasy Dome demolition

The “Fantasy Dome,” owned by Fantasy Entertainment, was demolished on Saturday, March 17 without the prior knowledge of its owner, Leslie Quaynor.

According to Quaynor, the demolition was carried out under the orders of the Ghana Trade Fair Company, with National Security officers and police personnel present to ensure the successful demolition of the facility.

In an interview with Sammy Flex TV, Quaynor expressed his disbelief as he arrived at the scene to find his facility being razed down by bulldozers under the protection of National Security.

The Ghana Trade Fair Company claimed that the demolition was necessary to pave the way for the construction of power and water infrastructure for the “Ghana International Trade Fair Center Development Project.”

The company stated that its tenancy agreement with the owner of the Fantasy Dome had expired on December 31, 2023.

Despite the CEO’s claim of having acquired a court injunction to prevent the demolition, the Ghana Trade Fair Company maintained that they had not been served with any injunction and were not aware of any court processes.

The company also emphasized that the Fantasy Dome had impeded the progress of the construction of the new Trade Fair Center for approximately 12 months.

The new Ghana International Trade Fair Center Development Project aims to include a convention and exhibition center, a technology hub, a retail mall, commercial offices, hotel accommodations, and public realm spaces, with infrastructure works and construction currently underway.
