Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing federal charges in New York, according to his lawyer.
The details of the charges have not been released by prosecutors yet, but Combs’ lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, expressed disappointment with the decision to pursue what they believe is an unjust prosecution.
Combs had reportedly gone to New York in anticipation of these charges.
Agnifilo stated that while Combs may be an imperfect person, he is not a criminal. The potential criminal charges against the 58-year-old music mogul would mark a significant moment in his career.
The federal investigation into Combs was made public when Homeland Security Investigations agents executed search warrants and raided his properties in Los Angeles and Miami.
Combs’ defense attorney, Aaron Dyer, criticized the raids as a “gross use of military-level force” and maintained that the allegations against Combs were baseless.
Combs, also known as Puff Daddy, has been a central figure in the hip-hop industry since the 1990s. However, recent allegations of sexual abuse and misconduct have tarnished his public image.
Several individuals, including his former protege and girlfriend Cassie, have come forward with lawsuits alleging various forms of abuse by Combs.
Despite denying the majority of the allegations, Combs and his businesses have faced significant repercussions.
The leaked video showing him physically assaulting Cassie led to Howard University severing ties with him and the return of his key to the city of New York.
