Tragedy struck in September of 2020 when two young boys, Mark and Jacob Iskander, lost their lives in a hit-and-run crash.

The driver responsible for their deaths was identified as California socialite Rebecca Grossman. Rebecca, along with her husband Dr. Peter Grossman, had founded the Grossman Burn Foundation in California, an organization aimed at supporting burn survivors and their families.

Rebecca Grossman, born on June 14, 1963, has faced intense scrutiny and legal consequences following the incident. After the crash, she allegedly continued driving until her Mercedes came to a stop a short distance away from the scene.

She was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter.

In her defense, Rebecca claimed that the crash was accidental and expressed deep remorse for the tragic loss of Mark and Jacob Iskander.

However, a jury found her guilty of two counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and one felony count of hit-and-run driving resulting in death. In June 2024, she was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.

Rebecca’s husband, Dr. Peter Grossman, is a renowned plastic surgeon specializing in burn injuries. He is the president of the Los Angeles Society of Plastic Surgeons and the founder of The Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles. The couple, who have two biological children, also welcomed an adopted daughter from Afghanistan.

The Grossman family’s life has been marred by this tragic incident, with Rebecca expressing profound sorrow and regret for the pain she has caused.

Despite the legal implications and public scrutiny, the Grossmans continue to navigate the aftermath of the hit-and-run crash, holding onto their family and the work they do to support burn survivors.
