On the night of August 5, 2023, 37-year-old Rachel Morin went missing after heading toward the Ma and Pa Trail in Bel-Air, Maryland.

Her disappearance sparked an investigation by the police, and her family pleaded with the public for any information that could help find her.

The following Sunday, Morin’s vehicle was discovered near the entrance of the trail. Sadly, just one day after she went missing, a body was found off the Ma and Pa Trail. Authorities confirmed that the body belonged to Rachel Morin and classified her death as a “criminal homicide.”

Months after Morin’s disappearance and murder, Maryland police identified a suspect named Victor Hernandez. Hernandez, a 23-year-old man from El Salvador, was arrested in connection to Morin’s case. Police also revealed that Hernandez had previously committed other heinous crimes in El Salvador and the United States.

According to Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler, Hernandez had fled to the United States illegally after committing a murder in El Salvador and had attacked a nine-year-old girl and her mother in Los Angeles during a home invasion. DNA evidence linked Hernandez to Morin’s case and the Los Angeles crime.

Colonel William Davis emphasized that the suspect acted alone and did not represent the Hispanic community in Harford County. Sheriff Gahler expressed relief that Hernandez had been apprehended and charged with first-degree murder and first-degree rape in connection to Morin’s disappearance and death.
