Kojo Preko bemoans lack of office space for Creative Arts Agency

Broadcaster and President of the Foundation of Concerned Arts Professionals (FOCAP), Kojo Preko Dankwa, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of office accommodation for the Creative Arts Agency.

In an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, Kojo highlighted the fact that the agency has never had a designated office space since its legal establishment in 2020.

The office space that was believed to belong to the agency, located at the Bureau of Ghana Languages, was actually privately rented by Gyankroma Akufo-Addo, the daughter of former President Nana Akufo-Addo, who served as the Executive Secretary for four years.

After the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lost power in the December 7, 2024 election, Gyankroma vacated the office premises, taking all furniture and equipment with her.

This raised questions about the existence of an office for the Creative Arts Agency in the first place.

Kojo raised concerns about the lack of response from former Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, and former Chief Director of the Ministry, John Agbeko, regarding Gyankroma’s use of the office space.

Despite recruiting thirteen staff members on December 18, 2024, the agency is currently without a physical office for these employees to work from.

The Acting Director for Arts and Culture at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Divine Owusu Ansah, has assured stakeholders in the creative industry that efforts are being made to secure a suitable office accommodation for the agency.

Kojo criticized Gyankroma Akufo-Addo for occupying a government office without an official appointment and expressed his disapproval of her role as Executive Director of the Creative Arts Agency.
