Ghanaian actor turned politician, John Dumelo, has recently spoken out about his transition from the entertainment industry to the political arena.
In a recent interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty, Dumelo addressed the challenges he faced in redefining political participation as an entertainer.
One of the key points Dumelo emphasized was the importance of representation and respect for all professions in Ghana’s Parliament.
Despite being perceived as limited by his entertainment background, Dumelo highlighted the diversity of backgrounds already present in Parliament, ranging from lawyers and doctors to businessmen and even hairdressers.
Dumelo also addressed the stigma that comes with being an entertainer turned politician, stating that it is sometimes seen as disrespectful.
However, he pointed out that politicians often turn to entertainers for endorsements during political seasons and campaigns, recognizing the power that entertainers hold in influencing public opinion.
