Ghanaian Highlife sensation Kuami Eugene has finally spoken out against the accusations of music theft that have been circulating in the media recently. In a recent interview on Hitz FM, the talented musician set the record straight about his creative process.

“I don’t ‘steal’ music,” Kuami Eugene stated firmly. He went on to explain that, like many artists, he draws inspiration from a variety of sources to create his unique sound.

He emphasized that taking influences from different places is a common practice in the music industry and is essential for the creative process.

Drawing parallels to iconic artists like Michael Jackson and popular Nigerian musicians Davido and Wizkid, Kuami Eugene defended the practice of borrowing lines or melodies to create new music.

He confidently stated, “There’s nothing wrong with taking a line or two and modifying it to fit my style. It’s a normal part of how we create music, and professional musicians do it all the time.”

Despite his explanation, Kuami Eugene expressed frustration over the criticism he faces compared to other artists.

“I feel like many artists can get away with it, but for me, every time I release a hit that may resemble another artist’s work, I’m criticized. It’s disheartening because I put a lot of effort into making my music original while still drawing inspiration,” he lamented.

The talented singer’s comments shed light on the complexities of the music industry and the challenges artists face in maintaining originality while being influenced by others.
