How Toby Keith helped launch Taylor Swift’s career

Country music legend Toby Keith died from cancer at 62 years old and put the spotlight on his influential role in Taylor Swift’s career.

At the time of Swift’s starting off her career in 2005, this ‘Wildest Dreams’ singer was an unknown unsigned high schooler. Big Machine Records, launched by a former DreamWorks executive, Scott Borchetta, was to make Taylor Swift’s career.

CMT Insider revealed that Keith paved the way for Borchetta to sign Taylor Swift.

She explained how Keith helped her achieve success through the signing which turned her aspirations into reality. Keith also had stakes in Big Machine Records and reportedly made a lot of money off Swift, even after the labels separated.

This is after she released six albums with Big Machine Records, in a feud with Scooter Braun who bought the musical record company.

The singer’s death was announced on Instagram,”Keith “passed peacefully” Monday evening while “surrounded by his family.”

Swift has yet to comment on the legend’s death. A fan posted a tribute to the great country singer writing, “RIP to the great Toby Keith — all you Swifties out there remember, without Toby there may have never been no Taylor Swift.”

Some fans also saw the recent country star’s death as an opportunity for Swift to pay tribute to him for his role in her career initiation.
