Legenday Tejano music icon and TV personality, Johnny Canales, passed away on June 13, 2024, at the age of 77.
He is survived by his wife, Nora, who shared the news of his death on social media. Nora described Johnny as not just a husband, father, musician, and entertainer, but also as a beacon of hope and joy for many people.
Johnny Canales was born on August 19, 1947, in General Treviño, Mexico. He rose to fame with his show, The Johnny Canales Show, which first aired in 1983.
The show was known for featuring top Latinx musicians, including the legendary Selena Quintanilla.
After The Johnny Canales Show was canceled in 2005, Johnny and Nora launched their own show, El Nuevo Show de Johnny y Nora Canales, in 2010.
The couple continued their entertainment career by live-streaming on Facebook and creating YouTube videos.
They even asked fans to support their GoFundMe campaign to bring back their popular show.
Throughout their marriage, Nora and Johnny welcomed two daughters. Johnny had reportedly struggled with health issues, including a stroke in 2008, leading up to his passing.
