The highly anticipated sequel to the first adaptation of the renowned sci-fi film Dune premiered in theaters on March 1, 2024, after winning six Oscars.

Originally set for release in November 2023, the movie was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes. Now available in theaters, Dune: Part Two will be available for streaming on various platforms starting April 16, 2024.

Filming for the sequel took place in several locations, including Budapest, Jordan, Abu Dhabi, and Italy, from July 2022 to December of that year. Clocking in at 165 minutes, the film is longer than its predecessor and has already accumulated $81.5 million at the US box office during its opening weekend.

Fans of the franchise were delighted to see the return of Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, as well as the introduction of new cast members like Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, and Javier Bardem. Director Denis Villeneuve has promised that Zendaya will have a more significant role in the sequel, as viewers will follow her character’s adventures in the desert alongside Timothée Chalamet’s character.

Based on the 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert, Dune: Part Two focuses on the second half of the original novel, portraying a love story between Paul and Chani, played by Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, respectively. Director Villeneuve described the film as a “war movie” with a strong emphasis on the emotional connection between the two main characters.

While this is the latest adaptation of Dune, fans may also remember the 1984 version directed by David Lynch, which covers the entire novel in one go and features actors like Kyle MacLachlan, Patrick Stewart, and Sting.
