Can you get two car parking tickets in one day?

Receiving a parking ticket is a frustrating experience that many people have encountered at least once. But what happens if you receive two parking tickets in one day? Is it even possible? Here’s what you need to know.

Yes, it is possible to receive two parking tickets in one day, even if you’re parked in the same location. The general rule is that you can receive a penalty charge notice for the same violation every two to three hours. This means that if you’ve parked in a prohibited area for a long period of time, you could potentially receive multiple tickets.

If you do receive multiple tickets in a day, it’s essential to check the times they were issued. If there is less than three hours between two tickets, you can appeal them and have the second ticket dismissed.

Private parking companies can also give you a fine if they believe you’ve broken the rules of parking on their premises. While they may not have the legal authority to enforce their parking restrictions, they do have the right to pursue the money they are owed, which could lead to them taking you to court if you ignore a parking fine.

It’s crucial to keep all tickets and other paperwork or evidence related to the parking violations. If you do end up in court, you may be able to defend yourself, for example, by arguing that the signage in the car park was unclear.

Failing to pay a parking ticket can result in serious consequences. If you don’t pay the Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) within 28 days of it being issued, a Notice to Owner will be enforced. This legal document informs the registered keeper of the vehicle that a PCN is outstanding and requests payment. If no payment or formal representation is received in response, the penalty charge will increase by a further 50%.
