In a remarkable display of generosity, the Achimota Retail Centre (ARC) along with its shoppers has made a significant contribution to the Haven of Hope Orphanage located in Midie, Greater Accra Region.

This donation consisted of a wide array of clothing, food, and essential household items.

This initiative was a key component of the Centre’s Easter family festival, which kicked off on April 1, featuring a month-long charity drive aimed at gathering items for those in need within the community.

Management at ARC reported an overwhelming response from shoppers during the collection period, which concluded on April 30. Generous patrons contributed a total of 21 sacks filled with clothing, shoes, toys, and various food items.

In addition to these donations, ARC management supplemented the offerings with assorted provisions including toilet paper, sanitary products, soap, soft drinks, and biscuits. They also prepared warm lunch packs for the children and staff at the orphanage during the donation ceremony.

Tenants of the retail centre, such as ARA—known for children’s games and entertainment—also joined in the charitable effort with their own contributions.

Haven of Hope, the recipient of this generous donation, operates under the auspices of the Every Child Ministry, a UK-based Christian NGO that manages several similar facilities across Ghana, including locations in Sogakope, Biriwa, and Koforidua.

The orphanage, which currently houses 81 children, is complemented by the Haven of Hope Academy, providing education from crèche to Junior Secondary School.

The atmosphere was filled with joy as children and caregivers welcomed the ARC team with singing and enthusiasm when the supplies arrived. ARC’s Marketing Manager, Mrs. Linda Pappoe, enthusiastically announced that the orphanage had been selected as the charity recipient.

Pastor Samuel Arthur, the Activity Coordinator for Every Child Ministry, formally accepted the donation and expressed gratitude: “It is such a blessing for you to come all the way from Accra to bring joy to these children. Your kindness reflects the goodness of God, who has guided you to our humble home. May God bless you all.”

Mrs. Pappoe emphasized ARC’s commitment to community welfare, noting the initiative as part of their Easter charity focused on uplifting the lives of children in need.

Centre Manager Alice Esi Coleman warmly interacted with the children, encouraging them to be respectful, diligent, and to pursue their education seriously.

“Always be prayerful, respectful, and ready to learn,” she advised the children, reinforcing the connection between education and future success.

Achimota Retail Centre, often referred to as Achimota Mall, is situated in Dome, near St. John’s Grammar School along the Accra-Nsawam Highway.

The Centre caters to a diverse population from various communities in the Ga East Municipality, offering a broad selection of both Ghanaian and international brands across multiple retail categories.
