The Centre for Communication and Culture, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Ghana Culture Forum, Ghana Tourism Authority, and the National Theatre, has officially launched the very first edition of the “Onyimpon Awards” on June 24.
The primary aim of the “Onyimpon Awards” is to recognize and honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the arts and cultural sector over their lifetime. This prestigious event is scheduled to take place on September 13, 2024, and will also serve as a commemoration of Dr. Ephraim Amu’s birthday.
During an interview with Channel One TV, the Executive Director of the Centre for Communication and Culture, Enimil Ashon, highlighted the importance of this event in celebrating and acknowledging the achievements of both veteran and contemporary artists. He emphasized the need to appreciate all art forms that contribute to the rich cultural tapestry of Ghana.
Additionally, a national industry lecture will be organized on the day preceding the awards ceremony, featuring esteemed personalities from the cultural sector who will deliver insightful presentations.
Notable dignitaries present at the launch event included Ken Fiati, Nana Hemaa Adwoa Awindor, Franky5, and Daddy Bosco. The occasion was well-attended and marked the beginning of a significant celebration of Ghanaian art and culture.
