Ghanaian music sensation Wendy Asiamah Addo, popularly known as Wendy Shay, celebrated her birthday in a special way on Tuesday, February 20.
Instead of throwing a lavish party, she chose to mark the occasion with a charitable act of kindness.
Through her Shay Foundation, Wendy Shay visited the Paediatric Theatre at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, where she was born.
There, she made a heartwarming donation of essential items like baby cots and a digital baby scale. But she didn’t stop there. The generous singer also took it upon herself to cover the medical bills and discharge mothers who had given birth on her birthday.
Speaking to the press, Wendy Shay expressed her joy and deep desire to give back to the hospital where she was born.
“This is my birthday, and since I was born here at Korle Bu, I felt a deep desire to give back. So, along with the Shay Foundation, we donated these items to the Paediatric Theatre. But that’s not all! We’re also paying off the medical bills and discharging mothers who welcomed their newborns on my special day.”
Wendy Shay, known for hit songs like ‘Koti Asore’, ‘Bedroom Commando’, and ‘Habibi’, turned her birthday into a symbol of hope and support for mothers, newborns, and the dedicated staff at the Korle Bu Paediatric Theatre.
The celebration was a heartwarming reminder of the importance of giving back, especially in a place that holds personal significance for the singer. It’s inspiring to see a celebrity use their platform to make a meaningful and lasting impact on their community.
