This is not the only time jollof has been the subject of controversy. Hilda Baci, a former Guinness World Record holder, also claimed that Ghana’s jollof lacked flavour during an interview on a UK-based podcast, sparking further debate on the matter. She spoke highly of the jollof from Nigeria but criticised that from Ghana.

This incident goes to show how seriously people take their jollof rice, and it’s clear that the debate is alive and well on social media. Ultimately, the passion for food and culture continues to fuel these discussions.
