Ghanaian musician Maradona Adjei Yeboah, popularly known as Guru NKZ, has been given the green light to continue his Students’ Representative Council (SRC) presidential campaign at the University of Ghana.
This decision comes after Guru and his running mate, Emmanuel Owusu Amponsah, were initially disqualified from the race for not meeting the necessary qualifications set by the SRC.
Despite facing legal challenges and a confirmation of his disqualification by the judicial board, Guru NKZ remained determined to contest the election.
He filed a court injunction to investigate the issue further and demand justifications from the council. After weeks of court proceedings, the Appeals Board unanimously overturned the disqualification, allowing Guru to re-enter the race.
In an interview on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning show, Guru NKZ reflected on the intense process he went through and the lessons he learned.
He acknowledged the complexity of navigating academic institutions and expressed gratitude to the Appeals Board for guiding him through the process.
The artist also praised his legal team for their expertise and support during the court proceedings.
With the opportunity to contest reinstated, Guru NKZ is focused on putting his best foot forward alongside his running mate and campaign team in the upcoming election on September 18, 2024.
