Spotify wrapped 2024: Asake, Ayra Starr emerge as most streamed artistes in Nigeria

Nigerian music stars Asake and Ayra Starr have solidified their positions as the most streamed artists in Nigeria on Spotify in 2024.

This exciting news was revealed by Phiona Okumu, Spotify’s Head of Music, Sub-Saharan Africa, in a recent statement.

According to Okumu, the top ten most streamed male artists in Nigeria for the year included familiar names such as Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido, as well as rising talents like Seyi Vibez and Bnxn.

On the other hand, the ten most streamed female artists in Nigeria were led by Ayra Starr, followed by popular acts like Tems, Tiwa Savage, and Simi.

Among the top ten most streamed tracks in Nigeria were hits like “Dealer” by Ayo Maff and Fireboy, “Different Pattern” by Seyi Vibez, and “Higher” by Burna Boy. These tracks, along with others on the list, showcase the diversity and talent within the Nigerian music industry.

Okumu highlighted the dominance of Nigerian artists in the top 10 most-streamed list for the fourth consecutive year, emphasizing the nation’s love for its homegrown talent.

Asake, in particular, emerged as the most-streamed artiste in Sub-Saharan Africa, making waves not only in Nigeria but also in Gambia and Benin.

The Head of Music described Nigeria’s music scene as a global powerhouse, with artists like Asake, Burna Boy, and Seyi Vibez captivating listeners across different age groups.

She also praised rising stars Ayo Maff and Muyeez for their presence on the most-streamed tracks list, indicating a bright future for the industry.
