The Vice President and Flagbearer of the ruling NPP government, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, held a meeting with stakeholders in the creative arts sector at the Alisa Hotel in Accra on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.
The main objective of the meeting was to strengthen communication and collaboration between the tourism and creative arts industries.
During the meeting, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of finding local solutions to help Ghanaian musicians earn more from their work.
A new platform is set to be launched to provide a fairer revenue model for Ghanaian creatives, enabling them to monitor and collect royalties more effectively while opening up avenues for sustainable growth in the sector.
A humorous moment arose when Shatta Wale, the self-proclaimed Dancehall King, requested the Vice President to respond to his question in pidgin. In good spirits, Shatta Wale asked for a simplified response in pidgin for the benefit of his fans on the streets.
Dr. Bawumia, known for his versatility, delivered his response in pidgin to the delight of the audience.
The interaction between the Vice President and Shatta Wale showcased a positive and engaging dialogue between the government and the creative arts industry.
