Renowned Ghanaian musician and entrepreneur, Rex Owusu Marfo, known as Rex Omar, has been appointed as the Presidential Staffer for Blackstar Experience. This exciting news was confirmed by Rex Omar himself in an interview on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
Black Star Experience is the NDC’s flagship Culture, Arts, and Tourism brand aimed at redefining and affirming the Ghanaian identity, attracting investments, creating new jobs, and increasing tourism. It will feature a year-round celebration of entertainment, art, and education.
Rex Omar, a talented highlife musician, is also a trained management professional specializing in intellectual property rights. He is considered one of the leading authorities on the subject in Ghana. In March 2017, he was elected as the Chairman of GHAMRO (Ghana Music Rights Organization) for a four-year term and was re-elected for a second term.
With his expertise and knowledge of the music industry, Rex Omar has held various positions, including Vice President of the Copyright Society of Ghana and a member of the 2013 Committee for National Intellectual Property and Policy Strategy. He has also served as the head of Business and Finance for the Musician Union of Ghana.
On the political front, Rex Omar has been an advisor to President John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress on the development of the creative arts in Ghana. He has also been the Party’s spokesperson on matters related to the cultural and entertainment industry.
