Former MUSIGA President, Bice Osei Kuffour, known in showbiz circles as Obour, has lost the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries in the Asante Akyem South constituency for the second time.

Obour contested for the parliamentary ticket in the constituency but was defeated by the incumbent Member of Parliament, Kwaku Asante Boateng, who polled 360 votes as against Obour’s 296 votes.

The defeat comes as a blow to Obour, who was seeking to represent the NPP in the upcoming general elections. Obour previously lost the primaries in 2020 and had hoped to make a comeback this year.

However, his loss has sparked mixed reactions among party faithful in the Asante Akyem South constituency, with some expressing disappointment while others have pledged their support for the party’s chosen candidate.

Obour has since congratulated the winner and assured his supporters that he will continue to work for the party’s success in the constituency.

The NPP primaries in the Asante Akyem South constituency were held amidst tight security and strict adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols.
