Nollywood star Tayo Faniran reveals ‘good looks’ aiding his acting career

Just last year, Tayo Faniran featured in two major movies- ‘Gangs of Lagos’ and ‘Ada Omo Daddy’.

When asked if he saw himself going this far as an actor, he replied yes. He explained that upon his return to Nigeria from South Africa, where he had worked as a model, he was already a star in Africa through Big Brother Africa. When he returned to Nigeria in 2019, he was ready to give it his all but didn’t expect it to be difficult to find acting jobs, even with his name and face being known and loved.

Upon his return, Faniran had a lot to learn and work to do on himself to find success. He was grateful to Funke Akindele and Mike Ezuruonye for offering him his first jobs as well as providing guidance. Faniran believes his physique has contributed to the kind of roles he gets, with his tall stature and broad shoulders contributing to his screen presence. He has also worked hard to transition from being a reality TV star to an actor.

For Faniran, Nollywood is growing really fast, with directors, producers, and actors competing positively and inspiring each other. International investors are also coming into the industry, and actors are earning the type of money they never used to earn years back. He believes that there is still room for growth and eventual royalties on films forever.

As a father, Faniran highlights the responsibility of his role, aiming to be a father to his kids like his own father has been to him. When it comes to relaxation, he has a beach house at Elegushi beach, Lagos where he can unwind. Lastly, Faniran loves to dress according to his feelings and doesn’t follow trends, but rather sets them.
