Floyd Mayweather was emotional in a recent interview when the conversation shifted towards his late assistant, Marikit “Kitchie” Laurico, who passed away last March due to health problems.
Kitchie had worked with Mayweather for 25 years and had become one of his closest confidants. A tearful Mayweather spoke fondly of Kitchie on The Pivot Podcast, saying that she was the only person with whom he could share his deepest secrets.
“There was no male or female in my life that I told more stuff to than her,” Mayweather said.
He described Kitchie as “a sister I never had” and a “best friend I ever had,” saying that she taught him a lot and always had his back.
According to Mayweather, they had plans to celebrate Kitchie’s 50th birthday in Aruba and attend the most recent Super Bowl in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, she passed away before they could fulfill their plans.
Mayweather also revealed that she had been dealing with some health issues and that he had encouraged her to seek treatment just days before her death.
Kitchie’s family posted a statement on her Instagram account after her passing, thanking everyone who had shown love and support. They also mentioned that arrangements for Kitchie’s “homegoing/ celebration of life” were underway.
Kitchie sadly passed away in March 2023.
