Radio and TV personality Louis Kwame Sakyiamah, popularly known as Lexis Bill, recently opened up about his journey into the world of radio presenting.

In an interview on Joy Prime’s Changes, he revealed that he never initially saw radio presenting as a career path. However, his perspective changed when he started to see financial benefits from the job.

During his time as a student, Lexis fell in love with radio because of the element of mystery it presented. His colleagues admired the voice on air without realizing it was actually him. This intrigue and anonymity sparked his interest in exploring the world of radio further.

“I was sitting amongst them; they were talking about me but didn’t know it was me. At the time, it was a nickname, ‘Lexis,’ and because we were in class, we all used our government names, which is Louis.

So, they know me as Louis, and so how do I tell them I’m the Lexis guy who was on the radio? That was the mystery about radio that I enjoyed, and that’s what made me literally enjoy that setup and decide to pay attention to this radio thing that they’re talking about to see whether it’s worth my while,” Lexis shared.

As he started to earn money from MC opportunities and voice-over gigs, his interest in radio presenting deepened. By his third year in university, he was already employed at a prominent radio station in Kumasi. Balancing his studies and work, Lexis found himself increasingly drawn to the world of radio presenting.

“I started MCing events, and they would pay me; I started doing voiceovers, commercials, and adverts, and they would pay me, and they were good money. That money plus my parents’ stipends was enough for me,” Lexis explained.
