Celebrated singer Celine Dion has been living with a rare neurological disorder called Stiff Person Syndrome and has had to put her performing career on hold.

However, she remains optimistic and is chronicling her journey in a new documentary titled “I Am: Celine Dion.”

Dion shared on her Instagram page that the past few years have been a challenge for her, but she is learning to live with and manage the condition without letting it define her. The documentary aims to raise awareness about the little-known condition and help others who share the diagnosis.

The renowned singer announced in December 2022 that she was taking time off from her professional commitments to focus on her health after revealing her diagnosis. Despite releasing new music and appearing in a film last year, a source close to Dion told CNN in late May that she “will likely never tour again,” due to her condition.

Stiff person syndrome is a rare, progressive syndrome that affects the nervous system. Despite the challenges, Dion is doing everything she can to recover, as mentioned by her older sister Claudette in an interview with Hello! Canada.

The documentary “I Am: Celine Dion” will give viewers an intimate look inside Dion’s life as she reveals her battle with Stiff Person Syndrome and the lengths she has gone to continue performing for her fans. With never-before-seen private moments, the doc will showcase the legend singer’s journey toward living an open and authentic life amidst illness.

The documentary, directed by Oscar-winning director Irene Taylor, will stream on Prime Video, according to the news release.
