The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) Ladies Club has embarked on a significant initiative to breathe new life into domestic tourism within female secondary schools across the nation.
A group of alumnae from various girls’ schools, forming the GTA Ladies Club, took the lead by visiting Accra Girls Senior High School on Friday, September 20, 2024, to rejuvenate their Tourism Club.
The visit saw the GTA Ladies Club engaging with over 200 members of the Accra Girls Senior High School Tourism Club. They provided valuable training and resources to equip the students with enhanced knowledge and skills in the tourism sector.
In an interview with Channel One TV, Mrs. Francisca Kuukuwah Yanneyba Quansah, the President of the Club, encouraged the students to consider pursuing careers in the tourism industry.
She highlighted that the initiative, part of Tourism Month celebrations, included a ‘Rep Your School’ campaign aimed at visiting girls’ schools to revitalize their tourism clubs. The ultimate goal is to promote domestic tourism across Ghana, not just for leisure purposes but also as a viable career path.
Mrs. Francisca Kuukuwah Yanneyba Quansah emphasized the importance of both male and female students developing a passion for tourism and exploring the diverse opportunities it presents.
The overarching theme of this project is ‘Promoting and Sustaining Domestic Tourism Through Second-Cycle Institutions,’ underscoring the long-term vision of the GTA Ladies Club.
The visit attracted esteemed guests such as Kakra Kofi Attah Mensah, Deputy Director for Marketing at the GTA, and Mrs. Adeline Boateng from the Ex-Staff Association, GTA, further elevating the significance of the event.
