The family of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, has rejected the autopsy results conducted on him, calling for an independent post-mortem and toxicology examination.
Mohbad passed away on 12 September at the age of 27 under controversial circumstances, prompting the police to exhume his remains and conduct an autopsy on 21 September to determine the cause of death.
A pathologist at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) reported that the autopsy was inconclusive due to factors such as body decomposition and potential reactions to medications Mohbad had received before his death.
In response, the Aloba family challenged the authenticity of the autopsy results and demanded transparency from the Lagos State Government.
During a virtual press conference with PREMIUM TIMES, the family expressed dissatisfaction with the inconclusive toxicology test results and raised serious concerns about the integrity of the investigation into Mohbad’s death.
They questioned the location and venue of the autopsy and called for a thorough investigation and clear answers.
The family denounced the inconclusive toxicology test outcome and insisted on a re-examination by a reputable forensic laboratory to adhere to the highest standards.
They also demanded the disclosure of all findings related to the toxicology tests and emphasized the need for collaboration with international experts to ensure transparency and credibility.
Furthermore, the Aloba family called for the intervention of the Inspector General of Nigeria Police in uncovering the truth behind Mohbad’s death and holding those responsible accountable.
They urged the coroner’s Inquest to ensure an independent toxicology report is submitted before finalizing the investigation.
Besides challenges and uncertainties, the family remains determined to seek justice for Mohbad and uncover the circumstances surrounding his untimely demise.
They believe that with the proper investigation and collaboration with experts, the truth will prevail and bring closure to the tragic loss of their beloved son, brother, and friend.
