Renowned gospel music star Great Ampong has refuted claims that he insulted the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama.

Ampong, a staunch supporter of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), recently released a campaign song titled “Emmoa Asem Nkoaa.”

The song has led to speculation that it was aimed at demeaning the NDC flagbearer.

However, in an interview with Property FM, Ampong clarified that the song is not meant as an insult but rather a reflection of what Mahama has been emphasizing during his campaign activities.

According to Ampong, “Emmoa Asem Nkoaa” simply highlights the themes of food and animals that Mahama has been focusing on in his speeches.

He explained that the song is a play on words in the Akan language, emphasizing that Mahama’s promises tend to revolve around food and meat, rather than technological advancements.

Ampong further elaborated, stating, “I wanted to convey the message that while the world is progressing with high-tech innovations, Mahama’s rhetoric seems stuck on traditional ideas of food and animals.”

The singer’s clarification seeks to dispel any misconceptions surrounding the intent of his campaign song.
