Ghanaian gospel musician Akesee Brempong has called on churches to invest more in the gospel music industry, noting that they are the major beneficiaries of gospel music.
In an interview with Joy Prime’s Celeb Biz, Akesee Brempong emphasized the need for churches to regulate the affairs of the gospel music industry, as they are in a better position to understand and advance God’s ministry through music.
He pointed out that corporate bodies do not fully comprehend the impact of gospel music as churches do, and therefore, churches should take the lead in investing in the industry.
Akesee Brempong expressed his concern that the gospel music industry has been left in the hands of the world, hindering its progress. He believes that if Christian institutions and churches were to regulate the space of Christian music, the impact and integrity of gospel music would be better preserved.
The musician further urged churches to establish their own record labels rather than depending on the corporate world to run the gospel music industry. He cautioned that corporate bodies are profit-oriented and would heavily monetize gospel music, potentially changing the theology and focus of gospel musicians.
