Ghanaian highlife musician Akwaboah Jnr. has lost his father Kwadwo Akwaboah Snr.
The former SarkCess Music label signee announced the sad news via his Facebook page on Tuesday, May 16, 2026.
He shared a photo of his father with the caption: “R.I.P, Daddy.”
Kwadwo Akwaboah Snr, who is a highlife legend, endured life difficulties after fame. He moved to Holland after having a successful music career in Ghana but returned home a few years ago after spiritual attacks and financial issues.
According to Akwaboah Snr, who is known for the hit song ‘Awerekyekyere’, he went blind 12 years while living in Holland due to a spiritual attack.
“I woke up one day after playing with a band and realized that my right eye had a blood spot on it,” he told TV XYZ in September 2020.
“So, I visited my doctor who gave me an eye drop to use. But after using it for some time, it didn’t work.”
He said while being blind, his son Akwaboah Jnr. was the one who provided for him.
