Ezekiel Aguyire, a family member of hiplife musician Jerry Anaba, popularly known as Okomfour Kwadee, has made a plea to the public to support the artiste financially as he battles mental health challenges.
In an exclusive interview with Joy FM’s entertainment journalist Kwame Dadzie, Ezekiel confirmed that Kwadee is currently in their hometown, Mirigu Nabango in the Upper East Region.
According to Ezekiel, Kwadee is not in good health and is in need of financial assistance for treatment. He mentioned that despite taking Kwadee to various places for treatment, they have been unable to afford some medical services due to financial constraints.
Expressing his concerns, Ezekiel shared that a recent performance video of Kwadee surfaced on social media, showing him in a frail and unkempt state.
He mentioned that he would not have allowed the performance if he had been present, and expressed doubt if any payment was made for the show.
Ezekiel revealed that he has been taking care of Kwadee since he relocated to Nabongo two years ago, and that Kwadee’s mother recently joined them after his father passed away. The funeral for Kwadee’s father is scheduled for this weekend.
The music industry has also rallied support for Kwadee, with music producer Quick Action and other industry players trying to offer assistance. However, efforts to help Kwadee have been met with challenges, as his mother reportedly hinders interventions from friends and stakeholders in the creative industry.
Despite these challenges, Kwadee’s unique style of rapping and singing, coupled with his storytelling prowess, has endeared him to fans. Some of his popular songs include ‘Abrantie’, ‘Ofie Nipa’, ‘Meko M’anim’, and ‘Boyz Boyz’, among others.
The current state of Kwadee’s mental health and financial condition has sparked concerns among music fans and industry stakeholders, with some suggesting spiritual influences.
