A member of the acclaimed music group TH 4 Kwages, Fiifi Selah, formerly known as Scooby Selah, has stirred up controversy with claims that reggae-dancehall icons Samini and Shatta Wale mimicked his vocal style.

During an interview on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning show with Roselyn Felli, Fiifi Selah boldly stated, “Samini copied me. He took inspiration from my music for his song ‘Linda’. Shatta Wale also drew from one of my Sass Squad tracks to shape his identity. They all borrowed from my work.”

This declaration came after Fiifi Selah performed an acapella, prompting the host to question the similarity between his style and Samini’s.

Presenting himself as a trendsetter in reggae-dancehall, Fiifi Selah insisted that all artists in the genre followed his lead.

He fondly recalled his efforts to promote reggae-dancehall music while hosting a radio show, which significantly contributed to the genre’s popularity in Ghana.

Fiifi Selah went on to boast that only Sarkodie possesses the skill to replicate his unique rap style, highlighting its complexity and distinctiveness.

“No one can match my flow; only Sarkodie can come close because my style is intricate,” he affirmed.

Despite his bold claims, Fiifi Selah expressed pride in the influence his music has had on other musicians over the years, mentioning Kofi Kinaata and Ayesem among others.

TH 4 Kwages, previously known as Sass Squad, rose to prominence in the late ’90s, leaving a lasting impression with hits like ‘Nana Esi,’ ‘Kwakyemu,’ ‘Menya Obaa Fefe,’ ‘Serwaa,’ and ‘Wongye.’
